Boomerang Week: Shanice Wilson - Don't Wanna Love You (1992)

Remember the track I Love Your Smile? Well, Shanice had a pretty decent R&B career back then, and tracks like this show you why. Produced by L.A. & Babyface, Don't Wanna Love You was never released but is strong enough to have held it's own in the charts.

  1. Shanice shoulda been a huge star like Whitney and Celine. I don't know why in a time when it was big Pop Ballads were the order of the day, Shanice was given to release R&B grooves like Somewhere and I Like. I think they should have stayed with her 1991 flavor with songs like I'm Crying and Silent Prayer, Because Saving Forever made it to the top 5 of the Pop Chart in 92/3. Also they waited too long to release a follow-up album and by the time she returned, Brandy and Monica were on the scene. So even though Shanice was still very young back in 1995, they should have given her big adult ballads like Celine and Whitney and I know if that was the case Shanice would've been as big a name as the other. The amazing thing is that Shanice still has her voice as she did in the 90s, so it is not too late for her to give us a big brassy album.
